The new company will be an electricity supplier only; they'll still use RIE for delivery. You can switch back to RIE supply at any point. Hopefully this is not a scam like those rando door-to-door companies that try to sign you up with low teaser rates only to jack them up after a few months.

Bayberry is pretty meh and overpriced, and I don't think they do drinks except beer. Some of my favorites are Al Forno, Avenue N, Den Den, Pizzico, Persimmon, Rosalina, The District, Julians, Nick's on Broadway. Further out, The Aviary in Swansea and Bywater and Revival in Warren.

It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense since rates are regulated. Also, “raise margins to pay off acquisition costs” is pretty standard business practice, you don’t buy a business if it’s not accretive to profits. I’m not an expert on public records but I assume this would have been captured in the hearing minutes?

The US population is aging and birth rates are at their lowest ever. The effects are already apparent in higher education, where enrollment has fallen off a cliff, and will be apparent in housing in 10-20 years, sooner if we remain in a sustained high interest rate era. A house bought today will be lucky to keep up with inflation.

You’re not supposed to press the food down on the blade but to run the blade over the food (like planing wood…hence Microplane). The food shavings collect in the blade.

Yup, good kitchen knives are the best. I have had mine for 41 (a Sabatier chef’s), 37 (Regal chef’s, surprisingly amazing Made in Japan knife I got at Zayre, a defunct discount chain), and 22 years (Wüsthof set)!

I tried whetstones for sharpening but they were a pain in the ass, switched to a $10 AccuSharp manual sharpener from Amazon 13 years ago and it’s been great (if you just want sharp knives and not win knife sharpening thread wars).
