Did you look at the Amtrak auto train? They ought to be able to run your car down to some point on the East Coast of Florida, I would think. I have family in FL that takes the auto train to NY each summer, so they don't have to drive all the way up from FL to NY.

Not sure what Amtrak charges, though.

There should still be a lot of smaller manufacturing/parts shops in CT that provide product to Pratt/Collins/Sikorsky/Kaman. It's possible some of them need welders. You'd have to dig a bit to figure out the names of the businesses and what sort of workers they are looking for, but they are out there.

Other commenters have made very good points. But another driver for increased rates is that there is more stuff that needs to be replaced on a newer model car that's been in an accident. As more and more safety features are added, there are more parts that need to be replaced even if they don't seem damaged. Example: if your airbag goes off the seatbelt sensors have to be replaced as well, because the seatbelt sensors are tied in with the airbag sensors.

Even simple windshield replacements are getting more costly for the insurance carrier, because these days there are more sensors that need to be recalibrated when the glass is replaced. And full glass replacements often don't have a deductible so the carrier picks up the entire cost of replacement. I would assume at some point, there will no longer be a full glass replacement coverage option that doesn't include a deductible.

Dermatology practices are all booked way the hell out. If I were you I’d book at a few places, because the availability for “new patient” appts are far fewer than regular/follow up appts because they have to spend more time with you at your first appt. I am in a situation where I’m trying to see a new doc, been waiting for 6 months for a coveted new patient slot on her calendar, and they just fucking canceled it because the doctor has a scheduling conflict. So I’m basically back to square one, waiting another 6 months to see her……

Just be courteous and cancel your other booked appts immediately once you finally get to see a doctor.
