It’s kind of nuts, and telling, that when I saw the headline standing alone I couldn’t immediately tell if this is a good ranking (17th on the list of best cities??) or a bad one (17th on the list of worst cities??) and in briefly contemplating either case I was like “yeah, that’d make sense” to both.

To you, OP, and anyone: watch out for a “facility fee” at Perlman, which applies if the practice you’re visiting is considered to be a separate entity from the hospital itself but is located within its walls. I got charged $1200 for a routine ENT appointment and actually had to pay it. I needed to go to a doctor that didn’t take my insurance and planned to pay what wasn’t covered for an out of network doc, but never saw that type of bullshit coming. I’ll never go back to that building if I can help it.

This applies to other hospitals that host outside practices too, for the record, but Perlman fucked me personally.

I wonder what circumstances led to it being discovered? Looks like this happened very early in the morning today, so my guess is that the actual incident of violence had recently occurred and the noise caught someone’s attention. The headline sort of lends itself to the suggestion that a body had been in the freezer for a while, like a serial killer situation, whereas it seems more likely that someone just committed murder and tried to hide it there.

Edit: NBC article has more detail; the family discovered the person after a welfare check. I feel for them, horrible thing to witness. https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/body-freezer-south-philadelphia-home/3458181/?amp=1

Hear me out - what if we appropriate use of savesies cones/lawn chairs to fight this by putting a cone right at the start of the crosswalk/before a curb cut?

I’m not an asshole who does any of this, so I don’t think like one and this plan might be flawed in some way that I can’t see. But I feel like a decent percentage of crosswalk parkers obey “savesies law” because 1) when they’re not parking in the crosswalk, they’re definitely the same people doing shit like putting cones in “their” spot and 2) they think moving another person’s cone is grounds for physical violence (since they, themselves may employ it) and so might not do so. Also, the added step of having to get out and move it is a deterrent.

It’s truly the only place in this city that I ever enjoyed drinking alone. Other spots I’d feel out of place or like I should expect people to assume I’m actually there to try to interact with them, McGlinchey’s I’d bring a book on a weekday and hang in one of the booths and not a single person ever bothered me or made eye contact. That said, if you do want to chat, you could end up talking to basically anyone.
