For future reference, Government Center to North Station is only around a ten minute walk.

Regarding basically everything MBTA related downtown, it's all very walkable. So unless you aren't comfortable walking, absolutely do that if there's issues with the MBTA and you can't miss a train, because once one of them is late you'll miss the rest of your commute 99% of the time. Pull up Google Maps on your phone and set it to your destination and your current location, it points you which direction to walk in and you'll see if you're going down the wrong street in real time.

As to your question of what was happening with the green line, someone tried killing themselves at Park Street a few hours ago. Half the red line was shut down. So could be that.

It was literally built before cars existed and probably one of the most of not the most walkable city in America. There's a reason why maps of Boston look so fucked up lol, it's because the city was designed with walking in mind. Given the shoehorning of cars into it does throw a wrench into it, but I am consistently able to walk through massive parts of downtown Boston.

I have nothing to a add about the coyote but I saw your post about your dog not liking the vet and I just wanted to say I hope it's going better ):

And also that if anything the coyote should be the scared one lol. Coyotes like the roam at night and early in the morning I think, that's the only time I've seen them. Never had any problems with them, just don't be leaving small pets or kids outside and they don't bother anyone.
