That's usually a cable issue. I switched to wireless in 2008 and didn't have a headphone failure since then (i switched to a wh1000xm4 when it came out and gave the old one to my wife who still uses it, but probably with different settings on headband, i guess headband/hinges is the part that breaks first on those)

Disclaimer: not recommended for gaming. Delay is a thing with wireless.

This is pretty much the first time in my life that i am sure i would pick the boring option and I will stay right here with my wife as our (first) child will be born in the next few days.
