Stay away from thredup. They have gone downhill recently and charge you to send stuff in, take months to process your stuff and pay next to nothing, if you want to sell. Donating, there are tons of local places you could try.

With your budget you won't find much at all, unless you can find a roommate situation. And as you only need it for the summer, you may also have trouble finding a short term rental, so I would seriously consider FDU, as I'm going to guess it may be cheaper. I live further out, and rents for 1BR where I am start at 1750 and up. Madison and the surrounding area is a lot more, which is why I moved further west. But Madison is nice, and Morristown isn't all that far away. and the train from Madison on that line goes right into NYC.

As far as not much to do, i guess it depends on exactly what you're looking TO do. Bars etc., Morristown is close and there are tons of places. You can take the train right into NYC from Madison, and you can also drive to the shore probably in an hour or so, without major traffic.

Just got mine today! My mom did too. We both rent so not sure of that makes a difference compared to homeowners.

Yup. They're going up everywhere. My 1BR in Western Morris County went from about 1500 to over $1650.

I agree. The one on ledgewood is decent too, it’s fairly newly renovated, and bigger, well laid out and usually pretty clean. Hackettstown is ok but ledgewood is closer for me

I totally get it. Although I am close to retirement, and have always rented. When I was younger, I never made enough to buy, as well as made some bad financial decisions. Now that I can maybe afford to, prices are so high its not happening. I just am grateful that I can still pay my rent and other bills. I know others who are really struggling.

I feel your pain. I live in Morris County, the western part so not as pricy as Morristown, Chatham, etc. My rent went from 1510 to 1665. Which I thought was a lot, but i just looked at the complex website. Which only shows rents if they have units available. My complex is old; built in the late 60's, so very dated. They have been updating units, and were charging about $200 more for those. Not upgrades, but updates.

Anyway, i just saw that my size apartment, starts at $1895, and another w as $100 more, so I'm assuming that's an updated unit. Between that and my recent car payment, I'm paying $400 a month more than I was a few months ago. And like you I can afford it, but not much left over. I also thought about looking elsewhere but rents are comparable, and my complex is actually very good. Between maintenance, snow removal, keeping the grounds nice, and great office staff, i know what I have, and if I moved, i might be able to save a bit, but it may be a shithole.

Yes! I got some great stuff at DD back in the day. Dirt cheap too! My mom and I would go and have a blast digging for treasure

Single, and while I don't shop every week like clockwork, when I do a larger grocery run, generally 100-125. I also don't shop at any one store; I like Wegmans, Trader Joes, and a lot of staples I get at Walmart as they're cheaper.

Absolutely the food. So many options, so many different cuisines. And the beach, proximity to NYC, and as someone else mentioned, the airport. I have so many friends who live in other areas, and anytime they want to go anywhere, they have to take connecting flights, where EWR you can generally fly nonstop, unless you're going to north or west bumblefuck.

Same here, and my dr., although in a small satellite office, not one of the main ones, does have a small lab right there. It's literally a mile from me, and very convenient. I also have numerous docs within SH and knock on wood, have not had any issues, other than sometimes having to wait a bit to get in to see one.

Its convenient as well when I need my every 5 years endocsopy; i have it done at their same day facility, and because they have it all there everything, including the anesthesia and pathology, is covered as they are in my net work. Prior to that, if i had it a one of the local hospitals, anesthesia and path were not in network and I got hit with some large bills.

Probably depends on which MVC you go to. I went last week, not to replace a title, but transfer for the car I bought privately. And register it. I was early for my appt, but they let me in, and I was in, out and done in under 20 minutes. I went to Washington

They’ll most likely be out of your budget. Most have central air, W/D, etc, so they’re pricier than most apartments. I’m in very western Morris county. Basic garden apt, a/c but not central, very dated and no W/D. My rent is just under $1700. It went up $150+ this year

I don't know much about co-ops; I want to say generally there arean't many IN NJ. most complexes are rental. And as far as rent going up, generally, they go up annually. And your budget is low; while you might find something in that range, it will be hard, and maybe not that nice an area.
