I always feel like they do it because the episode ended up seeming too boring otherwise.

It was most of the episode. Not unwatchable, but definitely a weird choice considering similar issues with GoT.

I like the focus and speed. GoT could often feel like it wasn't moving forward at all because there were so many storylines going on at once. I love the focus on a singular conflict.

Awards don't matter at all.
