Take Lost for what it is. It was groundbreaking at the time and broke the mould for television at the time. Is it good? It's not shit, but it helps to understand what was happening in the background i.e. from a meta perspective, as it was being made.

Yeah, I'm getting right into the procedurals of late. Late last year I think I just needed some mindless drama and getting into a new series was becoming seriously difficult given it was the end of the year for work (I'm in Australia so summer break has just passed).

I might give The Rookie a go as well. It looks alright.

I still can't quite get over Bobby and Athena's quick hookup, but I'm good with both characters individually. Season 6 is definitely a bit stale atm and end of season 5 was a bit of a fuck up, in my mind. Although Eddie's breakdown was just incredible and long overdue.

The problem with LS I have is that they have borrowed a lot of storylines from OG and just tweaked them, although I was on board the Grace and Judd ship from the start. I only noticed this after watching 911, but I'm now reluctant to go back to it. I like the characters, I think they're all well-written, but I was disappointed in the Ass Pull of Owen's PTSD regarding clowns. I know it was tied back to his absent dad but it still seemed to come out of nowhere.

Anyway, I'll come back to it I'm sure, just to finish it off. Right now someone else recommended Chicago Med and I'm getting into it (I had mentioned I was interested in Chicago Fire and they suggested Med instead).

I first watched Lone Star then watched 9-1-1. The original is far better, I think. It's still mindless telly, but it's really character-driven with plenty of Chekov's Guns. Lone Star hasn't been the same since season 1, although that has nothing to do with Gina Torres. She is really good.

This film is well known down here in the Antipodes though.

Couldn't honestly pin it down to one film. There are several I think are amazing.

Low points were the aging pill, O'Reily's mum working at the prison, and the fact Alvarez managed to avoid death row but Cyril didn't.

Fucking brutal show, though. Without it, The Sopranos wouldn't have happened when it did.

I've heard mixed messages about this one. It's another Wachowski film, yes? If it's what I'm thinking of, sounds like Wachowskis being Wachowskis. Bit of a pass for me, although I enjoy the Hans Zimmer soundtrack.

My sister and I watched it at our little town's local hall. It was the middle of winter (I'm in Australia) and the hall heating wasn't working.

We were rugged up with blankets in bean bags but sitting there for as long as we were, the cold still crept in. Yet I still enjoyed it.

NFI what £50 looks like in Aussie dollars, but my personal preference is Sennheiser.

He's an incredible actor. I can't say I've seen many of his films but what he was in, he was brilliant. Didn't realise he was only 46 when he passed though. I remember it happening, but man.

Yeah, it was gratuitous imo, pretentiously so. A mate of mine did finish it but he really struggled with it towards the end. It just seemed entirely unnecessary to go down that path.

The Shield was good because Shawn Ryan was there to temper his "enthusiasm" (shall we say) for the oversaturated violence. I mean, even his character (in only 2 episodes) was overly sick. Just unbelievably so.

Anything after season 4 of Oz, although it did get better in the final series.

Breaking Bad after Gus' death.

SoA was Sutter's outlet after not being able to do some of the things he wanted to in The Shield. It actually really pissed me off that he finally got to write Dutch as a maniac because it falls into so many cliches of the outsider. Dutch was an excellent cop and whilst awkward, made A LOT of good take downs. He was a far better man than Vic Mackay.

Your Honor is a remake of an Israeli show. I always prefer to watch the original (although I subverted this with The Bridge and watched The Tunnel instead) because if the US wants to do a remake, the original was obviously pretty good. Whether the remake lives up to the OG is another matter.
