I'm so happy that I listened to this sub's recommendation of The Knick. It's a fantastic show, and made for a great binge.

That’s exactly me. The reunion didn’t do anything for me, whereas the scenes in the apartment were extraordinary.

I will be so disappointed if Chaske Spencer doesn't get a nomination for The English. I'm also certain he won't, but it would really sour me to the awards.

I've seen a lot of comparison to Station Eleven since last night's episode, but, for me, the emotional gut punch of last night's TLOU actually highlighted how little emotional connection I felt to Station Eleven. With few exceptions (like Frank's rap and Miranda's episode), Station Eleven generally left me cold.

Oh, that’s good to know. I haven’t been to a move theatre in ages, so I clearly missed those ads.

Oh interesting. For The Boys, what commercials did you see them in? And what branded packaging? What stood out to me, with respect to the The Boys, is the lack of its starts being guests on popular interview shows, Youtube shows (like Hot Ones), or in-depth profiles in a magazine.

I guess I'm just surprised because I consider myself to be relatively plugged into what's going on in television (way more than anyone I know in real life) and, if I barely know about a TV show, then how is a casual viewer going to find out about it?

But why are streaming shows and regular shows treated differently when it comes to marketing?

Social media ads? Radio ads? Billboards? The stars of the show being on every interview show, podcast, Youtube show, etc.?
For example, I think White Lotus is pretty much everywhere.

His acting grew on me upon rewatch, but the first time through, I found his performance distractingly similar to Tom Hardy's in Peaky Blinders.

Oh, I see what you mean. I agree with you on the absurdist and stylized elements. it's definitely not a typical drama.

I just saw that they were shut out of the Golden Globes, so my hopes aren't high for the Emmys :(

It's not something I typically gravitate towards, but it moved me so deeply and I can't stop thinking about it. So, I don't think you can predict who will like it or won't like it. I think it's just one of those things that will resonate with some people and not others. Just recommend it to everyone! Lol.

Reply to why do series shows always have so many seemingly random people directing every episode? by OctoberRust13
I've always thought it was strange that episodes would have different writers, meaning that the characters would feel slightly different (or drastically different) and with a different voice from episode to episode.

Honestly, the heart of the show for me was Eli and Cornelia, the other stuff was just superfluous. I thought their story and relationship really grounded everything else.

The Others in Lost. Possibly the show's most compelling mystery that got sidelined and irrelevant in later seasons.
