East Harford still has a lot of raw material manufacturing, several buildings are dedicated to it. They were also making fan blades there when I left.

Pratt and Collins sub out a lot of work to companies in CT. This happens at all steps of the business, from machining to repair, inspection, and specialized processes like heat treating.
I would imagine Kaman and Sikorsky are also responsible for their fair share of CT based vendors in their respective areas.

Roaring acres alpaca farm in Suffield is neat.
Flamig farm in Simsbury is also a good petting zoo. We went around Halloween and they have a lot of fun stuff for kids to do plus a pretty long hay ride.

Reply to Quick question about parking @ Bradley by skiitifyoucan
Lot 1 and 2 are uncovered and walking distance. If by tall vehicle you mean a lifted or full size truck it might be a tight fit. They are usually close to full so there is no "way in the back" where you can park less than perfect and not be in anyones way.

Don't light another fire until you have the chimeny inspected. Ask the chimeny person about how to safely operate it. Lots of people overlook having chimneys cleaned and inspected. If your new to the area there's a chance the prior owner never had it done simply from not using it. A chimney with heavy creosote or animal nests can cause a chimney fire which can easily get into your walls or attic. We get these calls often during winter. Please also put a CO alarm in or near where the fire is. A blocked or unopened flue causing smoke build up and a CO condition which can be deadly very quickly. Please get a CO detector if you plan to use the fireplace for fires!
