I don't know. I have a friend who lives in one of those Harrison apartments paying like 3K for just him, and he has a car and parking. I don't want to be giving up like half my salary to rent so I am sticking around in this 3 family house my friends family owns and I didn't buy a new car when mine was no longer working.

I'm just banking my extra money because who knows what the hell might go down at this point.

Is your hotel by the actual airport or more downtown?

It might be possible but its still a bit of a gamble and way more expensive. Most people probably would suggest public transit. From Newark Penn you can get the PATH train to the World Trade Center in like 20 minutes and then walk down there in less than 30 minutes or take a ride share to save the walking.

I’d contact the office of your council member, or somebody else like that. The city workers are probably just following protocol but if people start calling governing bodies to let them know it’s something you care about it might become more of a priority.

They always seem to be well off business owners who are bitter and detached from life in their home country. They come over here legally because they have the money to pay for lawyers and all that to do it "the right way", and then resent people who aren't well off trying to come over. Same thing with the Cubans who think they are just going to waltz back in the country some day and take their former plantations over.

I think it also makes it harder to judge right now because housing prices are up everywhere. A lot of the construction hasn’t even had people move in either. If it will be locals or people trying to get affordable commuter living remains to be seen but anywhere along a train line the developers seem to build “luxury” apartments.

Yeah its a shame. After they made that deal with a made up country I'm more skeptical than I was before. Black empowerment and teaching people history is a good thing, but easy to fall down the path of ignoring reality. Programs like the Black Panthers used to do feeding kids breakfast and that kind of thing has more positive impact I think. This city has a history of people taking advantage of people's situation and their position of power, and I guess its not gone away.

Even after NJ became a free state a lot of people supported slavery. Newark produced a lot of goods that benefited from it. They made leather goods like saddles that the south bought, and I think they processed fabric made from cotton, so they still benefited from the labor. I forget exactly the details, but I remember reading something about protests to the war when they began recruitment.

Fios has been solid for me, and their price gets locked in.

When I used to have optimum cable at my last place the price kept going up every year and fees tacked on so the longer I kept it the more expensive it got and service was not as good but Newark might be better.

There have been a fair amount going to NJIT for a while. One of my best friends I met in college is Pakistani, and I don't remember any incidents happening relating to him being desi but maybe someone who is actually Indian can speak to it.

You are a short ways away from Jersey City and NYC, so there is plenty to do as a college student in the area.

I spent a lot of time in the arcade and anime club in college, I wish I had gotten out and explored and had more fun.

I think thats one of the big ways Tesla has made money by just selling their carbon credits to other companies who then use it to offset their own carbon emission requirements. Its really silly thinking the market will self regulate itself. These companies are there to make a profit, and they can't exist without keeping investors and funders happy. Things like fines and stuff just is part of the calculation they do during business.

I'm curious what options there are. I was interested in Spanish and found one place but just checked and they only offer English/Spanish https://cclsnj.edu/spanish-course

Might be useful to combine an online course with a language exchange. I was thinking about just taking courses through italki as its a more 1 on 1 thing, but if it was something local that would be nice.
