Yes, but read the title headline without context. Marriage rate down, bride prices up. Without any context that sounds like human trafficking/slavery and the selling of women, which is a farcry from reality.
So they are being deliberately being misleading to incite more chinese hatred.

"Bride price", especially with the quotes sounds like mail ordered brides when the reality is that it's a tradition to pay the bride's family to take their daughter into marriage. Major optics difference.

Dower. It's called dower, not "bride prices". You know NYT wants to spin a narrative when the title is deliberately more dystopian than reality.

Words of spiteful relatives when they found you won the lottery.
"Your" data didn't built ChatGPT. It's trained on publicly available data that can be found on the Internet. Case point, if you give ChatGPT your name, it can't use that to tell you info about yourself.
Don't be like Disney and stake claims on public domain data.

Reply to ELI5 North American USB power in Europe by historyguy2
The first letter, U, in USB stands for universal. As in, it can take power from anywhere.
I've traveled to France, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan, etc and all USB plugs are the same and I can draw the exact same amount of power from them. You might want to buy a travel plug adapter, but what comes out the rectangular USB side is the same

As someone living in a country without VAT, that makes sense. I assume value added tax was on luxury goods like sports cars, so why were they taxed on everyday food on the first place?

Cinnamon challenge and Tidepod challenge existed before tiktok and was viral on Youtube. It has more to do with stupid influencers and dumb kids than the platform hosting it.

America is still looking at 2k+ deaths weekly even with mRNA vaccine and sparsely populated cities. Triple the population and pack the cities tighter and the weekly death count suddenly don't seem that acceptable.

No, you may not. You're going to have to ask the CDC that.

Just this week, 2,649 Americans died to covid. Last week, 2,591 died. And that's with the "superior" western vaccine and sparsely packed cities.
Which means even with better vaccines, the death in China could be tens of thousands per week if they were to lax restrictions. How is that even remotely acceptable?

You make it sound like trying to prevent thousands from dying in dense cities is a bad thing. Lives are more important than the economy.
