Reply to i might be visiting new haven in two weeks for to see a friend. i also like collecting rocks and i hope the change in environment would allow me to see new rock types. is there anything in terms of rock hounding opportunities and collecting rocks that exist here? by Exotic_Park_436

I don’t think so. I studied at Suffolk and Northeastern for a few years. Partied with some Harvard kids. I’ve lived in New Haven county my whole life otherwise. There are way more schools in the area such that Harvard and MIT don’t really get special treatment throughout the city. Like it or not, New Haven owes most, if not all, of what it is today to Yale which leads to the inflated entitlement of the student body.

Stella Blues is a decent dive bar. Sometimes has live music, small pool table in the back. Deck in the back if you smoke. Cover is usually 10 bucks. There are some interesting places up State St in the East Rock area. But I'd stay around Temple, College, Crown, Chapel, etc.
