But whether it's a beetle or Oriental/American roach really doesn't even matter. In both cases, they usually just wander in from outside. The only roaches that really infest in most cases are German roaches, which look nothing like this.

It seems like usually when people talk about commuting it's by car, so that's why I said Fed Hill and areas close by. Also, other than Friday/Saturday nights and Ravens games, I actually don't think parking is too bad once you know where to go. Your suggestions are valid too, the Fed Hill area just seemed like a nice middle ground suggestion.

Plus, that's why I made my first point - rent in any part of the city that is reasonable commuting distance, get a feel for the city, and THEN think about buying. I think it'd be crazy to buy in a city you don't know anything about. Even visiting for a weekend (or multiple) seems like it wouldn't be enough to fully understand the traffic, public transportation, etc.

Why not rent for a year and explore the city before buying? Or at the bare minimum, at least visit a few times and explore some neighborhoods.

Federal Hill and the surrounding areas are probably the best if you want a shorter trip.

Yeah, I'm not sure where you'd find a lounge like that. If it doesn't need to be exactly that, but you're just looking for something a bit different, maybe you just want to look for places and events that are a bit more quirky?

If that's the case, Creative Alliance in Paterson Park could be of interest. I went to an "interactive movie" night there recently, and it was a little wacky and pretty fun. Also, I haven't been able to get there yet (plan to soon), but Red Emma's seems to have events that are a bit different.

Are you against others drinking, or are you fine being around others who do in a bar-type setting? And what type of music lover are you?

Off the top of my head, there's some decent music venues, Ottobar being my preferred and could be a good fit. It has lots of shows and events that I think could be of interest to an alt music lover.

I haven't been there, but I've heard about No Land Beyond, which may be somewhat what you're looking for? It's a board game bar.
