Yeah that's because in those types of places, gay people hide their identities so no one thinks anything of two dudes holding hands or hugging. But as gay people get slightly more accepted and open with things people don't want to be labeled as gay.

Nah you should practically never wear gloves with stationary equipment. Bumping a spinning part with your hand can be bad and will hurt. Bumping it with a glove on is more likely and it has a higher chance of getting caught in something and dragging your hand in.

Reply to LPT When talking to people, give them only as much information as needed. Never over-share things. Information is important. You don't want to think back wishing "I shouldn't have said that" by [deleted]
Bad advice. Most of the people I talk to don't need to hear anything I say to them. We're usually talking because we like talking to each other and we want each other to hear the things we say even if we don't need to hear them. You still shouldn't over share and tell people things they don't want to hear or things that will get you in trouble. But that doesn't mean you only should say what needs to be said.

I don't hate the homeless. I feel bad for them. But I'm not constantly harassed by people living one paycheck away from being homeless every time I go into town.

Reply to ELI5 why do your eyes adjust so fast to bright light but so slowly to darkness? by melig1991
There are molecules in your eyes that undergo chemical reactions when light hits them. Those chemicals are responsible for the eye's sensitivity to light. It takes a while for them to transform back to their original state. The reason for the difference in speed is because it takes a while to go from daylight to darkness so during that time your eyes would slowly be adjusting to the change in the amount of light until it was completely dark and you went to bed. At which point you'd wake up and it would be mostly light out again and you'd need to be able to see right away.
