Imagine having so much money that you can but extra of a vital resource (housing) and lend it out at a huge profit. It’s like back in the 1800s when some wealthy dick would buy up all the staple food in the port and gouge everyone who needed to eat on resell. Fuck landlords.

My dude, I wish you nothing but the best. Whoever told you that wants you to be stupid and dependent. You can rise above that. Best of luck.

The only debate is which NOI lemmings planning the killing. NYPD certainly fucked up the investigation.

100%! Long story short I drive to work because it saves literally over an hour roundtrip. I would LOVE to have efficient and reliable public transit instead. I’d have to take a subway to a bus, and that bus goes extremely slowly because people park in the bus lane and all through Church Ave 18-wheelers double park to unload.

Yea, I know, but it’s already way more environmentally friendly than gas-powered cars

Damn I wish NYC would get some electric vehicle infrastructure going. So fucken sick of my polluting gas guzzler.

Hahaha, I was about to comment the same. In theory it’s a wonderful idea to combat AI bias, which is a humongous problem (great recent PBS Nova about it. But flash forward three years and there’s an AI Anti-Bias Dept with a bloated budget that has a bunch of do-nothing six-figure cronies at the top and sends millions in “consulting” to for-profit NGOs run by former public servants.

Whatever sympathy I would’ve considered towards airbnb and its “hosts” died when I read they called it: “draconian and unworkable registration system that will prevent lawful and responsible hosts from listing their homes.” Fuck that hyperbolic stupidity. Use apartments as apartments.

No way of knowing. Certainly possible it was someone who works for 311 and/or NYPD making the call unofficially

I once got a call back from NYPD. The guy was very polite. “Why do you think the plate is fake?” “Because it’s Virginia but been in the neighborhood for a month…. and it’s paper…. and it’s expired…. and the numbers are intentionally obscured.” I thought for sure someone would actually come this time, but na, just changed the status of the 311 complaint and left it.

Maybe landlords in a less predatory way, or a govt agency (yea….. I know that would be super corrupt in this country), or maybe if we hit the reset button on housing economics we don’t also need banks leeching people’s money to the extent they do because housing becomes more affordable.
