I'm not sure wtf this has to do with the homelessness issue but if you want to start a completely separate discussion about it:

  • Yes absolutely those should be brought up to some sort of code and all the ones I've seen lately (I live near a lot) have been reinforced to be safe, heated structures protected behind concrete barricades
  • Many people are in favor of moving away from the uniquely American concept of letting car use take over such significant portions of our cities. Letting restaurants expand patios brings us in line with the rest of the developed world.
  • There's real economic benefit to it (increased restaurant capacity, pandemic safe seating for local businesses) and the amount of parking spaces they take away is negligible
  • I could keep going but its not really worth it, since your red herring of a comment barely deserved this much effort and you've probably stopped reading anyways.

It's got nothing to do with what "average voter" wants. You can't medically institutionalize anyone in this country anymore without their own or some sort of familial consent. You have to actively threatening to hurt yourself or someone else. But having enough fentanyl to kill 3 horses on your person doesn't count. That's a result of case law precedent. So that leaves only criminal charges, but understandably we don't want to lock up the users into a criminal system for being addicts. Good luck ever creating a bill in any state to undo that by giving the government more power to lock people away in mental institutions.

And that's making the false assumption people who are homeless are all drug addicts and need to be institutionalized. Housing needs to be increased but that's a systemic economic issue that would require a consistent domestic policy for more than a few years at a time, but half the country can't decide on if they want free ice cream or a kick in the nuts.

Eliminating tax deductions for EVERYONE is dumb. The IRS just needs to step up enforcement on political speech and activities and force blatantly partisan organizations to change their 501c status. There are lots of different types of 501c "non-profits". It's just a lot of organizations lie their way into getting and keeping their 501c3 status which provides the most tax benefits when they should be something else.

What time did it hit? My desktop computer shut off last night. But I'm very concerned because A) I have a fairly new UPS battery that should work fine and B) the power didn't go off long enough to reset the clocks. Just my desktop crashed while in the middle of a game and the monitors shut off.
