It feels Ike every other episode is a back door pilot for other show ideas they want to make to see if there is interest.

Kara asks if she is Portuguese, Maddy says she is Spanish, Kara says something to her in Spanish at that moment showing they both understand and can speak Spanish. So Maddy tells her to floor it in Spanish because she knows knows Kara would understand her.

I think this issue is directly related to why shows get canceled after only 2 or 3 seasons on the streaming networks. By the time a shows 2nd season comes out I've forgotten what happened in the 1st, so I don't bother watching it. I'm guessing this happens for a lot of people so they cancel cause not enough people watched it the day it gets released.
