It makes no sense to me that cars are given a green light to go (either straight, turning left, or turning right), and if they are turning left or right, pedestrians also have the walk light on these crosswalks to the left and right of the street. This is what makes it so dangerous for pedestrians: cars and people walking are allowed (by the light, but not by law) to occupy the same space at the same time. Have all red lights at the same time that all crosswalks have walk lights, then, have vertical grid green, then horizontal grid green.
