The point is that everyone fails to realize he is a moron. The whole reason he isn't a suspect at first is that he seemed too smart to do something so obvious, but the reveal is that he isn't and the obvious solution is true.

I mean the idea that we're not leaving behind pristine environments seems to miss the fact that asteroids aren't exactly all that valuable for preservation. They're vast empty deserts of rocks. It's not really the same as Yellowstone. There's also an inconceivably large number of them in space so it's not like humans would run out of preserved giant rocks with no life or interesting features.

Turkey is a NATO ally. The West literally can't do anything because they're all part of the same alliance. Is NATO going to supply a nation against other NATO nations?

The issue is that without pesticides the crop yields we've seen in the last 30 to 40 years would dwindle and it'd cause issues with farming. It's not as simple as saying "stop doing this and it fixes everything". It'd be more like "stop doing this so we have a different new problem to deal with."
