This is the Vermont version of Twitter. It's where people come to bitch and be NIMBYs about their subreddit while they complain about them.
Most of Vermont is not on r/Vermont and will go way out of their way to help people in need.

I'm assuming the "M" stands for 1,000? So in December/January your around 250kwh and in the summer your pushing 1200-1500kwh?

Ski rack or Alpine shop in btv. Just buy boots that are comfortable. I raced for most my life and I can honestly say a comfortable boot is the best "performing" boot.
You can get in the weeds about fit but unless your trying to shave seconds off your race time, it's all diminishing returns. Your way better off in a boot you don't mind wearing all day.
If you can't wait to tear your boots off at the end of the day or have to pop the buckles in the lift line, your just being silly about it. Unless someone's paying you to ski, you shouldn't have to do either of those things.
Custom molded liners like Intuitions are way better money spent than a shell that just doesn't fit your foot right.

Lol yea. I don't agree with the national GOP but Phill Scott is the epitome of RINO.
He also has the highest approval rating of any governor in the United States. He's done a good job and denoced the curret GOP shitfest.
I don't get people who hate people soley based on their affiliation. It doesn't mean Scott is MTG if Desantos decides to be a dick.

Reply to High beaming by ResponsibleExcuse727
My new Tacoma has automatic high beams. It's awesome. Basically you just turn them on and the sensor detects any light source within their rangep and automatically turns them off and turns them back on as soon as that source goes away.
I have terrible night vision and hate driving at night. It makes me super self conscious about having my high beams on because I know how much I hate it in the other side.
Auto high beams are a godsend and I can't imagine not having them now.

Reply to Your local weather nerd here with an update on the Storm. (I think its worth sharing) Tonight the cold front is set to move in and temps will drop quite fast. Its going to be icy tonight into tomorrow, so stay safe out there! 💙 by -PineMarten
I get you got some hate but you did literally just strip down to the bare essentials of what NOAA has been saying for 24hrs and literally every weather forecast will tell you. Not to mention you totally omitted the flood warning from NOAA. And our governor said the exact same thing this afternoon.

If you want to be a "weather nerd" that's fine. But you didn't actually include anything nerdy like why the weather today was so weird.
You didn't talk at all about how the artic air from Siberia was pushed out by a high pressure system from the south Pacific chilled most of the central us as it moved southeast while pushing a warmer wet storm north with it's higher temps bringing the rain in and the low pressure causing the huge 60mph gusts.
Now that that system has moved out we're felling the cold temps that the rest of the country is feeling and all that wet weather is freezing the earlier precipitation spreading black ice everywhere.
Your totally right. This is a perfect storm for absolute shit driving conditions and no one should be on the roads of they don't need to be.
And It's fine if you want to be a "weather nerd". But if you going to claim to be a "weather nerd", at least say something more than "hey it's going to get cold tonight and thats goin to make the roads icy"

Reply to First year in VT, where’s the snow? by magic_spaghetti
We're heading into our third year of an El nino system. It's super rare but it has happened before.
This is why your seeing a wetter and warmer fall/winter. Odds are it will revert next year and it will be whiplash the other way.
Hate to be the pessimist but this winters also going to likely look like the last two. Big dumps followed by rain and flash freezes. The skiing will likely suck again if you don't have the opportunity to grab the fresh snow while you can. Use your "sick days" wisely if you want to get out and ride the best snow.
Climate change is the better term rather than global warming. Global warming is a factor in driving climate change but just because it hasnt snowed much and it's more temperate than normal doesn't mean that's just what it's going to be from now on.
Most models for the next 20 years show more erratic weather patterns on the east coast. That means anything from blizzards, to ice storms, hurricanes, costal flooding, droughts, and who knows what else.
This is one outlier of a climate pattern with many more to come. But it doesn't mean this is going to be the status quo for the next few years.

That's crazy we have a NG furnace and a supplemental gas stove. We pay maybe $90-100 for gas a month to run gear at most in the worst of the cold season. 1700sf raised ranch while heating the finished basement.

OP I feel you. As a new parent at one point 8 months is a crazy hard part of being a new parent. Exhaustion fully sets in. Your coming to terms with doing everything you did before plus everything it takes to keep that little human alive and happy. (Which is typically every single unspoken minute you have that the rest of the world doesn't demand from you)
My advice would be to post of Front Porch Forum for this kind of stuff. This subreddit seems to lavish in lecturing people who are struggling by calling them incompetent or outsiders or dumb to bolster their ego about how tough they are because they live in VT. FFP will be much more helpful. I've lived in VT full time for the majority of my life and I promise you most Vermonters outside of this subreddit dont respond to request for help with lectures and "pull your self up by your fucking bootstraps attitudes"
In the mean time (not to be contrary to my point) I would do everything you can to clear out your plow pile at the end of driveway so emergency vehicles can get to you easier. But I promise you any EMT will climb that snow pile and walk to your front door if you have a 911 call.
