Survivors guilt is very difficult to "get over" and because Ashley has a good heart, she tends to think along the lines of "why didn't I get killed because my boyfriend wasn't always a jerk and didn't mean to hit me" and sees the good in other people so she takes these thoughts and applies them to herself. She knows she's not at fault but logic gets overridden by neverending guilt.

Thank you Ashley, for giving us another glimpse of your everyday life! I also would like to commend you for the way you're handling these terrifying situations! It wasn't too far in there recent past that you had no idea how to survive these incidents and would freeze in fear but look how far you've come! Now you face these fears and have figured out how to not get yourself killed as well as how to save your friends and other members of the student body! You should be proud of yourself and your achievements! Great job Ashley!

Maybe you could say you're learning rather than saying you suck? People generally are more inclined to be supportive and patient with someone who is learning as opposed to someone that sucks. Don't be so hard on yourself, we're are our own worst critics. Just remember to take a deep breath, relax and have a recipe cheat sheet handy. You got this!

Hey Ashley, don't worry about making the wrong coffee drinks, just say that's the way you were taught or that's how they make them in California... fake it 'til you make it! You've got yourself a great roommate and an even better friend in Cassie. Go easy on her, this is all new to her but she's got your back like you have hers.
