Exactly same as the TikTok trash heap of a debate. We are in a new era of yellow journalism. ALL journalism is focused on profit now; not truth. When those two happen to align, it’s great, but media orgs aren’t fretting themselves anymore on the latter. It’s whatever gets them revenue and their main source of free leads is government officials spoonfeeding them propaganda. They’d rather say, “wait, you don’t trust the government? Are you paranoid, schizo?” than have to gather and investigate stories on their own, which takes time and money. Instead, they have to gaslight us into thinking it’s us who turned yellow and not them.

I was in the same place as you recently until this just clicked for me. We enjoy knocking shit off the list and doing things for the team. We’re good at it and the team knows it. A lot of times the team and middle managers are also inundated with crazy CEOs spouting ambitious visions and shit that they now have to provide a plan for, so they go dump a bunch of half assed ideas on “doer” teams who now have to make sense of the gobbledegook so middle manager cna make their PowerPoint. Society is manic af right now.

> people being in the office leads to better team work and innovation

Not when you force people to be there and they know they they have the backs of their 29,999 peers; this is how you get your company sabotaged.... work slowwwww. Mess things up. Oopsies! Guess office work isn’t as efficient and now things are broken. Shucks.

Just work as long as you feel is good days’ work and then stop. If deadlines are missed, they’re missed. Don’t fret. If they fire you, they fire you, but it sounds like they really need you, otherwise you wouldn’t have all this work.

Don’t be rude about it and don’t say “no” ever. Just say, “yes, I can have it done by [whenever you can have it done by] and leave it at that. If they say, “that’s not good enough”, repeat yourself: “I understand; I can definitely get it to you by [repeat time period].

Don’t internalize the stress. You’re looking to “get everything done” instead of “working a 40-50”. Do the latter; stop worrying about the former. You will miss deadlines. It happens. Just be positive and never say, “no”; always make it positive sounding.

> their data scientists brainwash people into clicking on ads for products and services

you have no clue how any of this works. I work as a data scientist (with experience in social) and algos work by auto-selecting whatever it is, out of the millions of features you serve it, works to make you click or stay on screen longer. When it notices you spend more time looking at cats, it servers more things related to cats. There is no data scientist “brain washing” people.

So, because of some nebulous brainwashing argument. Got it. We should literally ban religion then; there are still people who believe they “meet their family” when they die. Like delusional coping mechanisms that cloud their existence. Making people think they have some permanent existence after death causes people to do weird shit that slows society down and makes everyone uncomfortable. Yet we allow people to walk around believing in delusions.

Maybe let’s start with the real brainwashing bullshit first.

It’s being pushed by Meta. Meaning their lobby groups are brigading socials to push out the debate that we could ban a foreign tech company, which is obvious non-sense. It’s getting to the top each time because they employ upvote bots.

You’re supposed to debate this issue as if banning a rival economy’s business in a “free market” is at all on the table or ethical or moral or reasonable or enforceable or legal. It’s none of those things and most everyone knows it. This is why there needs to be more posts..
