I hope you enjoy your 800 questions on where to find a tailor, which neighborhoods are "safe neighborhoods", and where to find a 1 BR apartment with parking in the city for under $1000.

I also had no idea this existed, and it's interesting to me, too! I don't think that obviates the need for questions to raise above the "can I get an answer via quick google search?" threshold.

I prefer a high value DC sub with interesting questions, even if they aren't relevant to me.

I don't think this has anything to do with me being smarter (I had no idea these services exist prior to my Google search) , but it seems reasonable, to me at least, for people to put just an ounce of effort into their posts.

How dense do you have to be to find that confusing? Rotate that image 180 degrees and the paint stripes are also clearly visible.

There's also a sidewalk 2 or 3 feet from the right travel lane. Just slow down.

OP, there's absolutely no reason to even bother contesting this one, if you're talking about the same image.

  • 99% of tourists do not need a car in or around DC.
  • It will be pretty hard to cross a highway (on foot?) unless you are intentionally trying to risk your life.
  • The Hilton is an ~8 minute walk to the Anthem. Google Maps will get you there just fine, using the default directions.. Unless you are severely directionally challenged and/or vision impaired, you won't have a problem walking there.
  • Getting to the Wharf is not complicated from either the Orange/Silver/Blue (L'Enfant Plaza) or Green Line (Waterfront). Stay pretty much anywhere you want that's metro accessible and you'll be fine.

>The worst is the unit block of 14th Street SW near the Washington Monument. Second, on the list is the 800 block of Maine Avenue SW near the Wharf. In 2022, more than 8,000 parking tickets were issued at these two locations. More than 4,000 citations on 14th street, and just under 4,000 on Maine Avenue

I suspect they could hit this number just going down the street a single time a day. The actual number, if they gave all illegally parked cars tickets, is probably 10 times higher.

I think all ANCs have monthly meetings. If you attend these (and fair warning, they can be quite painful to attend), they should discuss changes to streets/traffic patterns, including reps from DDOT discussing changes.

These meetings are listen-only (unless you've been approved to speak ahead of time), so it won't help if you want to share feedback, but it is useful to see what's coming down the pipeline.

If you're on Twitter, you may be able to find local residents who live tweet these events. I would start by following your local ANC rep and the algorithm should do the rest.

>The fact of the matter is that long-term parking options in DC are so expensive that street parking has become a primary way people store their vehicles.

Street parking is incredibly subsidized and pushes the external costs of driving to everyone else.

The solution isn't to subsidize more parking, it's to remove the parking subsidies in the first place.
